The demands for this project were: The library would be built next to the Villa Rotonda of the architect Palladio. There has to be six study rooms in it, and the library has to store 6000 books.

Library of the future
The reason why I came up with The Death Star is that I saw that the library of today doesn’t have many visitors. This is because of the modern technology that we have nowadays, such as the iPad, E- readers etc. My goal was to design a library that fits in the society of today and of the future. That’s why I designed a small space where people can digitize old books and where people can download books on their iPad or watch the books on their VR-glasses.
Design
The death star is a steel construction. The shape is based on the mathematic shape, the hexagon. I made from this 2D shape a 3D volume that looks like a meteor with a volume in the middle of it made of hexagons. The whole building stands in its proportion, all based on the number six. The reason why I chose the number 6 is that according Palladio this the perfect ratio is.
